Richmond County authorities are asking for your help in finding an arson suspect accused of burning down the shed where he was living.

William Redd Jr., 37, is wanted for arson in the first degree, which occurred at 3424 Milledgeville Road in Augusta, which is Meadow Brooks Kennels.

Property owner Teresa Collins told authorities that Redd burned down the shed that he lived in on Oct. 26, a shed that was on the property of the business. Collins advised that Redd had been living in a shed on her property.

Witness Russell Fortner told authorities that he stays at the property of the business most nights with Redd living in the shed. On Oct. 26, Fortner and Redd got into a verbal altercation in regard to Fortner not wanting to take him to get drugs. Redd threatened to burn his shed down if Fortner did not take him to get drugs, the report says.

Later that night, Redd walked into the shed and started the fire and told Fortner, “I burned the shed down. Are you going to tell on me?” Fortner advised that he told Redd that he was going to call the Fire Department. Fortner stated that Redd left the property before Augusta Fire arrived on scene.

Any information in regards to Redd’s location should be sent to Inv. William Smith (706) 821-1027, or any On-Duty Investigator with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (706) 821-1020 or (706) 821-1080.
