Although I know everyone wants and needs extra funds, I’m not sure how wise this is. Read a while back that AUMC is already short about $22 million from all these Covid issues, now they’re wanting to go deeper? Learned a long time ago, that if you find yourself in a hole, the first thing you do is stop digging. Let’s hope AUMC gets back in the black soon.
Was the “less than $80,000” cutoff strategically planned to leave out RN’s? RN’s have worked their tails off this past year just as much as anyone. They have been the frontliners throughout and should be included in the bonuses. What say you Dr Keel?
I work at AU and qualify for the bonus. With whom was the $2,000 total confirmed? I have only heard we are getting $1,000, because the state-employees budget is separate from the USG budget plan.
Hi Amanda — Yes, it’s an announcement the President has sent out a couple of times and that the department chairs, deans, etc., learned last week would be come out of their existing personnel budgets, so Russell Smeak, this is money that’s coming out of existing budgets. No extra or new money is involved.
Absolutely shameful to leave the RNs out of it because with all that has been asked and expected of them with all the Covid patients they deserve that and more.
Wake up to reality! Every nurse in almost every hospital is spending well over $1,000 in extra PPP supplies necessitated by Covid19, even though most have no interaction with Covid positive paitents. This stuff is very bad but it is not 30,40 or 50% of the populaion has it. So before you ask the hospitals, to pay everyone extra, and then raise the cost to you for future healthcare, think it through.
I am curious as to whether this is for university employees only or will it include AUMC personnel?
