Anna Virella

A proud native of Caddo Parish, La., Anna was then raised in New Orleans, where she acquired her love of music, and in Marietta, Ga., where she graduated high school with honors and distinction in history and a double distinction in English. She credits her excitement for joining The Augusta Press to her lifelong love of language and storytelling, several years working on the staff of two student literary magazines, a childhood spent with two parents who devour news, and war stories told by her dad about his years as a print journalist with newspapers in Texas and Louisiana. When she is not chasing a story, she is apt to be chasing her “barbarian horde," made up of two sons, two bonus-daughters, and their four beloved “hellhounds”. Her favorite season is football season, when she reverts to her earliest allegiances by rooting loudly and unapologetically for the New Orleans Saints.
