The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, and one restaurant did receive a score right at the border of that in their recent health inspection from Aug. 19-23.

Inspector’s deducted for “removing dead or trapped birds, insects, rodents, and other pests,” and contamination concerns within the food storage.

The inspector also noted food was improperly labeled and/or expired, in addition to meats not being stored in a cold enough environment.

“Observed jerk marinade cold held above 41 [degrees] F,” the inspector wrote.

Finally, the third lowest score was an 84, and it was received by Mei Mei’s Dim Sum House, at 251 Meridian Drive, in Grovetown.

In addition to observing pests “crawl out of dish machine,” the inspector noted in their report toxic chemicals being stored and/or used improperly.

“Observed chemicals for dish machine being stored in soy sauce bucket that were unknown,” the inspector reported. “Observed dish machine without proper chemical concentration for sanitizer.”

The inspector also observed that the person in charge did not understand employee health reporting requirements.
