I hope they don’t forget about the college tuition for the millions of illegal aliens that have been shipped here.
Many high school students with a B average are not really B students in comparison with those at more demanding academic institutions. SAT or ACT scores should also be used as a qualifier (as it is now with the upgraded ZELL Hope Scholarship). Many students in lower-performing schools receive sympathy grades so as not to deflate their sense of well-being and fairness. I am pleased that our state legislators have opened more opportunities for Georgia’s high school seniors, but the realities of higher education can overwhelm many of the HOPE students who come from under-performing high schools. A child with an 840 SAT and a 3.0 average in HS academic courses is very unlikely to rise to the occasion at a respected four-year college or university. The child might sign on with a diploma mill, or worse. Yes, it is true that GT or UGA would not accept the 840 SAT kid, but many colleges will. And please, someone enlighten me if I am wrong. This commentary is simply my opinion.
Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones campaigned on a platform to eliminate the Georgia income tax .
Was any legislation introduced to eliminate or reduce the state income tax ?
