A man accused of injuring two people by repeatedly ramming their vehicle with a van was denied bond Tuesday, June 7.
David N. McMahon, 39, has pleaded not guilty in Richmond County Superior Court to two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of criminal damage to property, driving under the influence and hit and run. At the conclusion of Tuesday’s bond hearing, Judge Jesse Stone said he cannot ignore McMahon’s history of domestic violence and the risk he might pose to the community.
McMahon rammed the victims’ vehicle repeatedly causing the car to flip on May 4, 2021, said Assistant District Attorney Larry Smith. He also took out a fence and damaged other property, Smith said.
Defense attorney Greg Gelpi asked the judge to consider bond for McMahon who has been in jail for more than a year now. He is a high school graduate and McMahon served in the Army for three years, Gelpi said.
