The Richmond County Coroner’s Office is investigating a shooting death of a man found Friday morning on the 2200 block of Wade Road in Augusta.

The victim was shot at least one time at an unknown location a short time before he was found on Wade Road, authorities said. An earlier report that he was found at a local motel was never confirmed, Coroner Mark Bowen said.

The shooting victim was pronounced dead on the scene at 10 a.m. Friday. The identity of the victim has not been made public. An autopsy has been scheduled, Bowen said.
