You missed the Mayor’s Kayak and Raft Race on Memorial Day Weekend? Steve Kendrick organized the event for Hardie Davis. It was sponsored by C4Live and Cardinal Management, LLC. The race was won by four slider turtles on a large log, with a Kendrick for Mayor sign stuck on it, that weirdly floated by the finish line. When the turtles finished the race, no other competitors were in sight. They slid off the log when King Hardie attempted to present the trophy to them. Among the attendees were Augusta Commissioners Dennis Williams, Bobby Williams and Francine Scott, and a few chipmunks and squirrels. The turtles were also awarded an all expense paid trip to Qatar to attend an environmental conference.
