David Custer Penix passed away on August 12, 2021. He was born on September 2, 1938 in Marmet, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred W. Penix and Eva K. Custer Penix, his sister, Nancy Penix Duncan, and his brothers, Freddie and Richard Penix. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Harriet (Hatsy) Knox Penix.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Margaret Howard and her husband Steve (Redlands, CA), grandchildren, Margaret (Maggie) Howard and Jacob Howard (Augusta) as well as his former wife, Margaret-Scott Dickerson Penix.
David graduated from Aiken High school and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Clemson University. He was a CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) and his passions included economic development and the revitalization efforts of Downtown Augusta.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and participated in Bible Study Fellowship for many years.
The family wishes for everyone to stay safe and healthy during the COVID resurgence. A private memorial service will be held for the family.
