Entered into rest on Thursday, January 20, 2022, Glenda Kent Smith, 81, loving wife of the late Ralph S. Smith. A longtime Augusta resident, Glenda was a retired civil servant who worked many years at Fort Gordon. In her spare time, Glenda enjoyed spending time with family, shopping, and crossword puzzles. Fishing at her Clarks Hill Lake home was also a favorite pastime. Glenda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Family members in addition to her late husband include her sons: Karey Smith (Cindy) and Kevin Smith; grandchildren: Marie Parker (Scott Moody), Mike Greene; Tiffany Greene; and Melissa Gheesling; great-grandchildren: Maddie Parker, Katie Parker and Ella Moody; Anthony Gomez; Aviana Gary and TJ Gary; and her loyal canine companion: Sophia. In addition to her husband, Glenda is preceded in death by her parents: Kermit and Johnnie Kent; daughter: Karen Smith; son: Dwayne Smith; brother: Larry Kent; and her dog: Shrimp. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Gibson Branch Cemetery in Edgehill, Georgia. Memorial contributions may be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
