A recent TikTok video indicating that LIV Golf is purchasing land in North Augusta for a golf course has gone viral, but its claims are untrue, according to one of the landowners.

The video claims LIV bought 400 acres for $36 million in North Augusta, but one of the landowners, who wished to remain unnamed, says there is no pending sale nor any interest in selling the property.

North Augusta Mayor Briton Williams confirmed the landowner’s statement. Briton said that there are a lot of rumors, but the city is currently not proceeding with any annexation.

“I don’t know anything about LIV tour,” Williams said.

The Edgefield County Clerk of Court’s office indicated that options to purchase must be recorded in the courthouse, and none of the land mentioned by TikTok has any recorded options or recorded deeds.

A spokesperson for that office said usually a deed gets processed the day it’s filed. It just takes a few days for a deed to show up in the online database online.

The landowner indicated the family that owns the property in question is not interested in selling, and they wish the rumors would just stop.
