A teen known for running away was fatally shot early Wednesday at a hotel in south Augusta, leading to the arrest of an older teen.

Demarcus Clark, 19, of Augusta, was charged with murder and weapon possession in the death of 16-year-old Kaymaya Greene. The incident happened just before 6 a.m. at the Economy Inn on Deans Bridge Road.

Authorities say that the suspect and victim arrived with another male and got into a heated argument in the parking lot. Greene reportedly spit at Clark and threw a drink at him, leading him to pull a gun and shoot her multiple times in the upper torso.

She was rushed to Augusta University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 6:41 a.m., Coroner Mark Bowen said.

Authorities reviewed hotel surveillance video in their investigation, filing the murder charges in the case. The other male was not charged.

Greene has been listed several times in media reports as a missing person or runaway.

  1. A nineteen year-old illegally carrying a gun, shoots a sixteen year-old and kills her, because she stupidly spit at him. You know what SHOULD happen to this POS ? It never will, but we know what SHOULD. Find his gun supplier, and charge him/her as an accessory. That CAN be done.

    • Wait, if he was illegally carrying a gun, how is that possible? You mean the gun control laws we have on the books didn’t prevent him from obtaining a gun? That doesn’t compute. Maybe we need more gun control laws.

  2. Maybe it was the gun’s fault!!?? It never is the shooter with a gun’s fault! If it was the gun manufacturer’s fault, according to our current woke democrat federal congress, if a car gets into an accident, it is not the driver on his cell phones fault, it is the car manufacturers fault!! JUST LOGIC FROM WASHINGTON, D.C.!
