An American hero celebrates his 99th birthday Feb. 6, and well-wishers are asked to send him birthday cards.
Luciano “Louis” Charles Graziano is a World War II veteran who was part of the landing on Omaha Beach with the third wave on D-Day and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He may be the last living witness to the Germans’ signing of the instrument of surrender at the Little Red Schoolhouse in Reims, France in May 1945.

Graziano’s service during World War II is captured in his book “A Patriot’s Memoirs of World War II” which was published in 2019.
According to Graziano’s daughter, Kim Evans, cards may be mailed to 238 W. Hill St., Thomson 30824.
It’s strange that she didn’t let us know what his rank was so we could properly address the letter.
