Funeral Home Thomas L. King Funeral Home and Cremation Service
Mark Anthoney Cliatt, age 58, peacefully entered into rest on the morning of August 21, 2021, following a hard-fought battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He was surrounded by his loving family at their home in Grovetown, Georgia. Mark, the youngest of seven children, was born in Augusta, Georgia on June 14, 1963, to Ralph and Elsie-Mae Cliatt (both deceased). He is preceded in death by his brother’s Chuck Cliatt, and Jimmy Cliatt. Although Mark had retired from Fort Gordon, he was employed by Columbia County Recycling.
As a 1982 graduate of Harlem High School, friends would agree with his Senior Superlative recognition as having “Most School Spirit.” Mark proudly wore his bulldog costume and roused Friday night football fans as Harlem’s mascot. His many co-workers, friends, and family know that Mark had a genuine love for life’s simplest things; whether it was Sunday dinners at mamma’s house or hiking at Heggie’s Rock, he found pleasure in what so many take for granted. He loved Elvis and knew the lyrics to every Beach Boys song ever recorded. Mark loved to take the family on spontaneous trips to the mountains, even if it meant to simply view a waterfall. He enjoyed sharing every blessing of nature with his kids and leaves a legacy of memories with every outdoor adventure. Mark also knew our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a lifelong member of Clifford Memorial Presbyterian Church where he also served as a past Deacon.
Mark’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving wife Mildred (Millie) and three children: Anthoney (age 24), Emily (age 21), and Addison (age 13). He is survived by his four sisters: Marie McDaniel (Palmetto, FL), Janice Odom (Edgefield, SC.), Joyce Goodbread (Lilburn, GA.) and Libby Cliatt Young (North Augusta, SC.). Additionally, Mark leaves to mourn numerous nieces, nephews and countless other family members around the Augusta area. Lastly, he’ll be missed by two loyal 4-legged companions, Skipper and Hudson.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday August 25, 2021 at Clifford Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gosey officiating. Mr. Cliett will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Thomas L. King Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
