This past week, I went to get my COVID vaccine from a local Department of Health drive-through vaccination line. The process was fairly simple, starting with scheduling an appointment through the registration site.

Check-In

After registering and reserving a spot in line through the DPH site, each person is given a QR code that they need to show to the public health workers in order to get the vaccine. The code is scanned, and a packet is given to each patient with a brief questionnaire.

Vaccine Line

The next stop is the actual vaccination line. The questionnaire is collected, and a vaccine card is given to the patient that has the date of the second dose to complete the vaccination process.

Department of Health Personnel

DPH personnel file the paperwork to make sure each patient’s first dose is recorded in their system. While doing that, they speak with the patients to set them at ease and confirm the data provided on the forms filled out at the beginning of the process.

Vaccine Administration

After getting the paperwork taken care of, the actual vaccine is administered.

Observation

Finally, the patient is directed to pull into a waiting line for a 15 minute observation period so that DPH workers are able to monitor them and watch for any immediate reactions to the vaccine.
