Augusta man dies days after motorcycle crash on Meadowbrook Drive

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the death of 27-year-old Kyvan Isaiah James following injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash last week.

According to Coroner Mark Bowen, James, a resident of Augusta, was riding a motorcycle on Meadowbrook Drive near Sturnidae Drive around 9:15 p.m. on July 16, when he was involved in a collision with another vehicle. He was transported from the scene by EMS to Wellstar MCG Health, where he remained hospitalized until he succumbed to his injuries on Monday at 5:52 p.m.

No further details about the crash have been released, and the incident remains under investigation.

News of James’ passing has sparked an outpouring of grief and remembrance online. Friends have taken to social media to honor his life and impact, describing him as a loyal friend, a rising artist, and a source of constant support.

“From 6th grade to now bro you neverrrrrrrrr stopped popping up to make sure I was straight!!” wrote one friend, Tookie Hunter, in a heartfelt Facebook post. “The realest friend I ever had!!! The best brother from another mother!!! I CAN’T SEE YOU BEING GONE!! … I LOVE YOU KYVAN FOREVER AND ALWAYS!!!”

Another friend, Chris Meech, recalled James’ passion for music and his growth as an artist:
“I remember when you first started this rap s**t… you really asked me my honest opinion about how your sound was… man you took tf off… I’m gonna miss you lil bra.”

James is remembered as a vibrant young man with deep ties to his community, both through lifelong friendships and his music.
