15th Annual International Disc Golf Ice Bowl charity fundraiser

Date: January 17, 2023

On Saturday, Jan. 28, the International Disc Golf Center and the Augusta Disc Golf Association will host a charity fundraiser at the disc golf center located in Wildwood Park of Appling, Ga.

Taking place during the winter months, the Ice Bowl is a national effort centered around the mission of fighting food insecurity by supporting local charities.

Holding the first tournament in Columbia, Mo., the bowl began in 1987 and has since raised close to $6 million nationwide – over $550,000 was raised in 2021.

Similar to previous years, the International Disc Golf Center Ice Bowl aims to continue fighting hunger in the CSRA.

In this year’s tournament, 144 players will brave the cold and play over two rounds of disc golf with all proceeds benefiting local food bank charities such as the Golden Harvest Food Bank and Columbia County Cares.

Since 2015, the competition has locally collected over $15,000 and more than 4,500 lbs of food donations.

Check-in will begin at 7 a.m. and Round 1 will start at approximately 8:30 a.m. Awards, a silent auction and a raffle drawing will start at 5 p.m. at the end of the Ice Bowl. Participants and attendees will receive raffle tickets by donating canned goods, or by purchasing them in the center’s pro shop. Every two canned food items will equal one raffle ticket.
