Two drivers were killed in a fiery collision Friday night on Mike Padgett Highway in Hephzibah, including a Waynesboro father.
Richard Faber, 30, was traveling southbound on the 5200 block of Mike Padgett Highway around 9:20 p.m. Friday when the wreck occurred.
“A vehicle traveling northbound on Mike Padgett Highway swerved into the southbound lane striking (Faber),” Coroner Mark Bowen said in a press release. “The northbound vehicle caught on fire. Faber and the driver of the northbound vehicle were pronounced dead on the scene.”
The driver of the at-fault vehicle has not been positively identified and will require autopsy, the coroner said.
Faber was remembered online by his sister, Amber Faber, with this post:
“I got a call early this morning that broke my heart into a million pieces. My baby brother was killed in a head on collision because someone crossed the yellow line. He was only 30 years old, had a wonderful wife that will miss every day, a 6 year old boy that is going to miss his daddy. My brother had so much love in his heart and the best man you could ever meet. I wish I could have hugged him tighter the last time I saw him. He will be truly missed by many. I love you brother and I will see you again someday.”
