An Augusta woman whose case took nine years to resolve will spend life in prison with the possibility of parole.

Richmond County Superior Court Judge Jesse Stone sentenced Jasmine Nicole Green, 28, to life plus five years Tuesday, in the 2015 death of Davyn Dixon, 24, according to court records.

After a June trial ended in a mistrial, a jury on Sept. 20 found Green guilty of felony murder and possession of a gun to commit a crime.

Green, who was 19 at the time of the crime, was accused of inviting Dixon, her former boyfriend, to meet on the night of his death. Police testified based on text messages she was upset over Dixon ending their relationship.

The jury deadlocked in the June mistrial. Defense attorney Jacque Hawk argued Green’s confession she drove suspect Mandley Stewart to Dixon’s home was coerced by police.

Both Green and Stewart were released on bond and had a child together. Stewart was never indicted for the crime.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Assistant Columbia County District Attorney Natalie Paine after Augusta DA Jared Williams recused himself due to his former work for the Hawk Law Group.
