Wednesday evening at SRP Park, hundreds of runners took on a 5k track in the name of The RECing Crew’s mission to provide recreational activities for those with disabilities and special needs.
The Big Run 2025, sponsored by Fleet Feet Augusta, is one of the organization’s biggest annual fundraisers.
“This community is a wonderful community,” said RECing Crew president and founder, Pamela Stickler. “They have been very receptive to us from the very, very beginning.”

Running to support the Miracle League field
This year, funds raised by The Big Run will benefit The North Augusta Miracle League baseball field, a project by the RECing crew in partnership with City of North Augusta Parks and Recreation.
Miracle baseball fields are inclusive, universally accessible baseball fields designed specifically for athletes with disabilities.
The North Augusta field, an estimated $1.3 million project, will have a soft-surface and will be able to accommodate wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
Stickler noted that there are 17 similar fields in South Carolina, but this one will be the first in the country with two baseball diamonds.
Money brought in by Wednesday night’s run will specifically go toward the field’s pavilion area.
“The pavilion will give us a sheltered area that they can have activities under,” said Stickler.

Donations for the field can be made here.
