EMS service restored

As of 6 a.m. this morning, Central EMS is in place and providing EMS service to Augusta-Richmond County, according to a press release from Mayor Garnett Johnson’s office.

Currently, eight units and a quick response vehicle are in operation.

The Department of Public Health is sending an additional four agencies with units as well as a representative to assist with the transition. 

“We are also working on implementing 5-mile mutual aid coverage with our partners in Columbia and Burke Counties,” according to the press release.

Both Central EMS and the Department of Public Health have representatives in the 911 Call Center to assist and coordinate dispatch calls.
