Join award-winning guide and entrepreneur Michael Wolff and experience a night of ghostly tales and local history with one of his various upcoming walking tours that venture through the heart of Augusta.

Follow Wolff, an enthusiastic former Walt Disney Company employee and owner of Haunted Augusta Adventures, through the streets of downtown Augusta as he partners with various businesses to promote tourism and local history.

For one night only, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, Wolff will start the Christmas season off with a candlelight ghost tour featuring Augusta history and the Marion Hatcher Center building at 519 Greene St.

Dive back into the 19th century, for $30, by walking the home of John Phinizy, a wealthy Augustan merchant and businessman, and admire Federal style architecture that later acted as a funeral home in the 1900s.

Dedicated to preserving a piece of the city’s history, the Marion Hatcher Center is known for its beautiful courtyards with salt finished walkways and ornate wrought iron gates.

Next, for $30, Wolff will offer a “Christmas Scareol” candlelight walking tour at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, where participants will hear holiday-themed tales of Augustan ghosts before exploring the Pexcho’s American Dime Museum.

“It’s almost like Augusta’s own Ripley’s Believe or Not Museum,” said Wolff.

Located at 216 Sixth St., the museum features several artworks, oddities and rarities within its aquarium and menageries, and seeks to foster visitors’ imagination and curiosity.

Guided in partnership with Old Thyme Paranormal, a local organization made up of ghost investigators, Wolff’s following tour will occur on Friday, Dec. 15, and will allow attendees to explore the basics of ghost hunting with equipment.

With tickets selling for $25 each, phantom experts will allow participants to use handheld K-II Meters, which measure electromagnetic fields, to walk about and search St. Paul’s Episcopal Church graveyard and Augustan streets.

Wolff’s holiday season will end with a “Desserts with a Ghost” tour on Saturday, Dec. 16, that offers exclusive night access to Cotton Bug Bakery and haunting tales of the city’s past.

For $35 a ticket, adults 21 years and older can enjoy delicious treats by the well-known Boll Weevil Cafe and cocktail samples from downtown’s 2nd City Distillery.

All tours feature limited space and reservations can be purchased by calling 706-993-9263.
