An adult was arrested this week for bringing drugs onto the campus of Lakeside Middle School.

Erin Stanley, 31, was charged with drug possession and possession of drug-related objects prohibited. She was booked into the jail and released on a $6,200 bond.

Principal Jeremy Medlin told parents in a letter that the suspect was an adult patron who was arrested for possession of drugs while attending an after-school event on campus.

The incident happened Thursday night when district police responded to reports of a substance found inside a handbag in the restroom.

“The bathroom area was immediately isolated and upon further investigation, the contents tested positive for an illegal substance,” Medlin said. “Out of an abundance of caution, the bathroom and other areas of the school were carefully decontaminated before the school opened (Friday) morning.”

The principal tried to reassure parents that the campus is a drug-free zone and illegal substances are not tolerated.
