A Jackson man was found shot to death in his vehicle early Tuesday morning, and Aiken County authorities are now working to uncover what led to the deadly gunfire.

The victim, identified as 27-year-old Dequon Hill, was discovered unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in the driveway of his home on the 5000 block of North Silverton Street, according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office. Deputies with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office had been dispatched to the area around 2:11 a.m. after reports of gunshots.

Hill was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:40 a.m. from multiple gunshot wounds, said Coroner Darryl Ables. An autopsy will be performed later this week in Newberry.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office are jointly investigating the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact the sheriff’s office at 803-642-1761.

As the investigation continues, members of the community are offering prayers to Hill’s family and expressing shock and heartbreak as they search for answers and justice.
