Aiken County man is jailed on child porn charges

Date: January 26, 2022

An Aiken County man was arrested Tuesday on charges that he possessed several videos on his Apple iPhone showing children involved in sex acts.

Eduardo Rueda-Juarez, 32, of Carolina Bay Trail, Monetta, was charged with five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree.

A search warrant was served at his residence this week and Aiken County sheriff’s officials found child porn videos on his phone which depicted sexual acts involving children as young as 5 years old. The five videos showed boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 13 as well as some adults.

According to South Carolina statutes, an individual commits the offense of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor if, knowing the character or content of the material, he possesses material that contains a visual representation of a minor engaging in sexual activity. A person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, must be imprisoned not more than ten years, the law says.
