An Aiken County mother was jailed overnight in the DUI-related death of her 3-year-old daughter, authorities said.

Ronesha Quattlebaum, 25, of Graniteville, was impaired Wednesday evening while driving with her daughter in a 2015 Nissan Altima along Salley Road, near Salley, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Quattlebaum was traveling west in the 1700 block of Salley Road when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, hit an embankment, and overturned after striking a utility pole, Coroner Darryl Ables said. The child was identified as Journi Quattlebaum, who was pronounced deceased on scene and will be autopsied in Newberry.

Quattlebaum was treated and then taken to the Aiken County Detention Center, where a mugshot shows her in a neck brace. She is charged with felony DUI involving death. A bond hearing is expected to be held later on Thursday.

The Coroner’s Office along with Highway Patrol and MAIT are continuing with the investigation.

Quattlebaum has been charged twice with speeding in Aiken County, including last year when she was fined for “driving vehicle at greater speed than is reasonable under conditions.”
