Aiken County resident dies in car accident

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle collision that killed John Barbara, 54, of Windsor, S.C. Tuesday.

Around 4:22 p.m. Barbara was riding a moped when he was struck by a 2010 Dodge Ram truck on Silver Bluff Road at King Edward Way, Aiken, according to Aiken County coroner Darryl Ables.

Barbara was transported to Aiken Regional Medical Centers where he was
pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m.

The coroner’s office along with the Aiken Department of Public Safety are continuing with the investigation, Ables’ email said.
