A teacher at Wagener-Salley High School was killed Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a utility pole that was knocked down by a tractor trailer on Main Street in Wagener, authorities said.

Jeunelle Robinson, 31, of Aiken, was struck around 12:34 p.m. Wednesday and died later at Augusta University Medical Center, according to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables.

Robinson was walking south on Main Street in Wagener when a tractor-trailer traveling north on Main Street struck overhead power lines. That caused a utility pole to fall on Robinson, Ables said.

The Coroner’s Office along with S.C. Highway Patrol are continuing with the investigation.
