South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents have arrested an Aiken County woman on charges that she tried to cash a winning scratch-off ticket that was stolen from the convenience store where she worked.

Whitney Andrea James, 32, of Poplar Street, Salley, S.C. was charged Thursday with intent to defraud counterfeit game tickets.

A SLED investigation shows the suspect passed a scratch-off ticket at the Enmarket in Perry on July 7, according to a press release.

“The ticket was previously stolen on June 29 from the Salley Mini Mart,” an arrest warrant says. “The defendant was identified by employee records and management at Salley Mini Mart, where she was previously employed.”

The cashing attempt was recorded by video by Enmarket cameras. She has already been released from jail on bond.
