The Fermata Club in Aiken, located at 841 Whiskey Road, is set to host its annual Polar Plunge on Wednesday, Jan. 1.
The Polar Plunge invites participants to take a dip in icy water while raising funds for club facility repairs. Fermata Club President Jason Rabun said he hopes the event will have a good number of participants.
“Hopefully a big turnout will come…I anticipate we’ll have a decent crowd this year,” he said,
For a suggested donation of $20 for members or $25 for non-members, plungers can take the challenge and receive their choice of a commemorative long sleeve t-shirt or mug, while supplies last.
Participants and guests alike can enjoy warm cider or hot chocolate and catch football on the big screen.
This year’s proceeds will be allocated toward a plethora of facility updates including roof painting, air conditioning and foundation stabilization as detailed by Rabun.
“It’s a variety of different things,” he said.
