Aiken County held a festive parade Saturday afternoon, Feb. 17, in honor of Black History Month.

Complete with a marching band, signs and motorcycles, Aiken’s 24th annual Black History Month parade involved a variety of local organizations, nonprofits and politicians.

Cruising down Hampton Avenue to Perry Memorial Park, the parade’s cowboy theme featured several Western-style floats in honor of Aiken Department of Public Cpl. Sonny Ford, who used to direct and safeguard Aiken’s streets for several community events.

Children happily collected candy while adults excitedly waved and cheered for friends and family members participating in the event.
