An Aiken man was killed and his wife remains in fighting for her life following a single-vehicle crash early Sunday on Good Springs Road, authorities said.

Aiken County deputies were called at approximately 2:27 a.m. to Good Springs Road near Confederate Road. The crash involved a 2011 Cadillac SUV traveling westbound when it left the roadway and struck a tree, according to Aiken County Chief Deputy Coroner Eric Ramey.

The passenger, identified as 46-year-old Kevin R. Parker of Aiken, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:31 a.m., Ramey said.

Those close to the family said said Parker’s wife, Yolanda Parker, was seriously injured and is fighting for her life.

“But please keep the Parker family in your prayers along with Kevin’s wife Yolanda Parker while she’s fighting for her life,” Grace Abrantes wrote in a Facebook post.

The S.C. Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
