An Aiken man was killed early Monday after wrecking his commercial truck in Augusta, one of two local traffic fatalities in the last 24 hours.

Braun Pruitt, 48, was driving the truck when it left the roadway and crashed on the 3900 block of Deans Bridge Road, Coroner Mark Bowen said. The Aiken man was pronounced dead at 1:31 a.m. Friday.

In an unrelated fatality, a pedestrian was killed Thursday night on the 1600 block of Gordon Highway. The woman was struck by a vehicle and pronounced dead on scene at 7:14 p.m. Thursday, the coroner said. She was identified as 43-year-old Tabitha Grooms and lived on the 1600 block of Gordon Highway in Augusta.

The sheriff’s office has not released anything on possible charges.

The pedestrian death comes just three days after another person was killed on Mike Padgett Highway and Phinizy Road. The pedestrian was walking in the southbound lane early Monday when he was struck by a southbound vehicle.  The pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene at 2:57 a.m. Monday. That victim’s identity was being withheld until positive ID can be made.
