Aiken Technical College announces speaker for 2024 commencement ceremony

Aiken Technical College (Aiken Tech) has recently announced that Dr. Ronald L. Rhames, the president of Midlands Technical College (MTC), will be the keynote speaker for the 2024 commencement ceremony. 

Dr. Rhames is the sixth president at MTC, and he is notably the first graduate of a South Carolina technical to later became the president of the same institution. He was the college’s senior vice president and chief operating officer before becoming the president of MTC. 

Dr. Rhames has also worked as the vice president of fiscal affairs at Claflin University and as a banker. He was won numerous awards and was just recently featured in the 2023 South Carolina African American History Calendar.

The commencement ceremony at Aiken Tech will be on Tuesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. at the USC Aiken Convocation Center. This year’s class consists of over 400 graduates. Aiken Tech will also announce its 2023-2024 faculty and staff members of the year.
