The Augusta Circuit District Attorney’s Violent Crimes and Gangs Unit announced Friday the conviction and lengthy prison sentence of alleged Trap Money gangster Dmond Raynard Jackson.
Less than a year ago, Jackson, 31, terrorized “the entire city of Augusta with various armed robberies, kidnappings, carjackings and shootings,” District Attorney Jared Williams said in a statement. “Multiple hardworking employees at local businesses were robbed at gunpoint by this man,” Williams said.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service and other local law enforcement worked to apprehend Jackson in June 2024, and ADAs Keagan Waystack and Jarryd Brown tried the case this week, he said.
After the jury returned its verdict, Superior Court Judge John Flythe sentenced Jackson to seven consecutive life sentences, followed by 280 years in the Georgia corrections system, Williams said.
“Dmond Jackson messed around and found out. We do not play about our community’s safety,” he said.
Jackson was one of 30 defendants indicted last year in a sweeping local, state and federal effort to dismantle the Trap Money gang. At the time, Jackson was indicted on 29 counts, including six counts of armed robbery and 10 street gang counts.
Jackson and seven other inmates were involved in an alleged gang-related altercation at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center in September.
