An Augusta teen was stabbed by cellmates Monday just a day after his arrest for a deadly series of gun-related violence, and the attack was captured on cell phone video.
Ike Lang, 18, suffered stab wounds to his arm and back after being moved to a new cell, according to a sheriff’s report. Two inmates – 25-year-old Evan Smith and 18-year-old Kendrick Green – are charged in the attack. They are the same two inmates accused in a June 3 stabbing of a murder suspect charged in the same Get-N-Go killing as Lang.
Video taken on smuggled phones has been circulating throughout Augusta. They show Lang being slammed to the ground and struck. A second video shows him with blood running down his right arm.
WARNING: Videos may be disturbing to some. They are a bit grainy and have no sound, but they are the the same videos being circulated through the Augusta area.
Lang was taken to the jail’s medical area and treated for his injuries, a sheriff’s report says.
He had only been in jail one day before the attack. He was a passenger in a stolen Jaguar involved in a wild chase on Sunday.
Lang was one of three suspects wanted for the June 1 shooting death of 15-year-old Jordan Gaynor outside the Get-N-Go on Windsor Spring Road. Lang was also wanted for using an assault rifle to shoot into a Birnam Place residence on Jan. 19 that injured two adults. Fortunately, the gunfire missed two infant children inside.
The inmates involved in Monday’s stabbing face additional charges of aggravated assault.
But there are questions about why Lang was placed in a cell with Smith and Green, who were both accused just a few weeks ago of stabbing murder suspect Derrick Lyons a day after his arrest in the Get-N-Go murder. A sheriff’s report simply says that jailers moved Lang from one pod to the other pod moments before the attack.

Evan Smith is not only being held on a murder charge in a 2019 killing of Michael Holt, but he also has multiple charges for having contraband in the jail, at least four previous times.
Kendrick Green was 15 when he was arrested with three others in the 2020 fatal shooting of 27-year-old Donnell Graham behind the Pizza Hut on 2802 Wrightsboro Road. He has since been charged with having drugs or weapons inside the jail.
