The Aquinas High School Fightin’ Irish surged past the Greenbrier High School Wolfpack with a 40-20 victory.
The Fightin’ Irish (4-1) dominated throughout the entire game, and they were led by quarterback Jim Franklin throwing 3 touchdown passes, including a late one to wide receiver Jos Tyre that sealed the game.
In the first half, the Aquinas High School Fightin’ Irish jumped out to a 20-0 lead by scoring three touchdowns in the first half.
The Fightin’ Irish scored first with a 55-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jim Franklin to wide receiver BuddyRow Garrer. With Aquinas’ Jack Rhodes unable to make the extra point, the score was 6-0.
Aquinas followed that up by scoring a rushing touchdown with 4:51 left in the first quarter. The Fightin’ Irish made the extra point, stretching their lead to 13-0.
In the second quarter, the Fightin’ Irish continued to rack up points by scoring another rushing touchdown from 4 yards out with 6:22 left. Jackson then made the extra point, making the score 20-0 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Franklin would throw a 20-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kevin Douglas, bringing the score to 27-0.

The Wolfpack (0-5) would look to answer with a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brooks Kramer to Cole Trupp. The extra point by Greenbrier’s Keegan Moran would make the score 27-7.
Franklin would then throw for his third touchdown pass with Jos Tyre being the recipient with 8:47 left in the fourth quarter.

The Wolfpack tried to gain some momentum with a touchdown pass from Kramer to wide receiver Ty Jones to bring the score to 33-14 with 4:47 left, but Walker Mobley would continue to add to the total of the Fightin’ Irish by scoring on a touchdown run, making the score 40-14 with 1:24 remaining.
The Wolfpack then would score again on a touchdown pass from Kramer to Ty Jones to make the score 40-20 with 0:23 left in the game; however, the first half deficit proved to be too much to handle as they could not make a comeback to win the game in the second half.
The next game for Aquinas High School will be on Friday, Sept. 30 at Lincoln County High School. Greenbrier High School’s will next play Statesboro High School at home on Friday, Oct. 7.
