Area graduations set for the next two weeks

Graduations are scheduled for this week and next week for Columbia, Richmond and Aiken counties and here’s what you need to know.

Columbia County School District will hold graduations Wednesday, May 22 – Friday, May 24 at Evans Towne Center Park. The schedule is as follows:

• Greenbrier High – Wednesday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m.

• Harlem High – Thursday, May 23 at 9:30 a.m.

• Grovetown High – Thursday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m.

• Lakeside High – Friday, May 24 at 9:30 a.m.

• Evans High – Friday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m.

“Graduates will be provided the number of tickets requested at graduation practice for the outdoor ceremony, and tickets will be required upon entry,” the school district said in a press release. 

If there is bad weather, the graduations will be moved to the Columbia County Performing Arts Center. Notification via the school website, social media and voice, text or email alerts will be sent to parents and students two hours before the graduation time if it must be changed. 

“All graduating students will be issued a separate set of limited tickets at graduation practice if inclement weather is anticipated for commencement. Tickets for the Performing Arts Center will be different from the tickets for Evans Towne Center Park. Tickets will be numbered and a record of tickets issued to each student will be maintained,” the school district said. 

The Richmond County School System will also hold graduation ceremonies Wednesday, May 22-Friday, May 24 at the James Brown Arena. The schedule is as follows:

  • Hephzibah Comprehensive High School – May 22 at 3 p.m.
  • G.P. Butler Comprehensive High School – May 22 at 6 p.m.
  • Cross Creek Comprehensive High School – May 23 at 8 a.m.
  • Westside Comprehensive High School – May 23 at 11 a.m.
  • Lucy C. Laney Comprehensive High School – May 23 at 2 p.m. 
  • Richmond County Technical Career Magnet School – May 23 at 4:30 p.m.
  • and T.W. Josey Comprehensive High School – May 23 at 7 p.m.
  •  A. R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School – May 24 at 8 a.m.
  • Glenn Hills Comprehensive High School – May 24 at 11 a.m.
  • John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School – May 24 at 2 p.m,
  •  Academy of Richmond County – May 24 at 5 p.m.

“Everyone planning to attend a graduation ceremony is reminded that noisemakers and balloons are prohibited in the James Brown Arena. Families and friends should plan for doors to open 50 minutes prior to the start of each ceremony,” the district said in a press release.

The ceremonies will be livestreamed on the school system and individual school’s website. 

Aiken County Public School District will hold commencement ceremonies Wednesday, May 29 – Friday, May 31 at the USC Aiken Convocation Center. The schedule is as follows: 

  • Aiken County Career & Technology Center Completer Ceremony – May 29 at 5 p.m.
  • Ridge Spring-Monetta High School – May 29 at 7 p.m.
  • Silver Bluff High School – May 30 at 2 p.m.
  • Wagener-Salley High School – May 30 at 5 p.m.
  • South Aiken High School – May 30 at 8 p.m.
  • Aiken High School – May 31 at 9 a.m. 
  • Aiken Scholars Academy – May 31 at noon
  • North Augusta High School – May 31 at 3 p.m.
  • Midland Valley High School – May 31 at 6 p.m.
