An Augusta couple were captured Tuesday after holding up a local pharmacy and making off with a load of prescription drugs, authorities said.

William Cyrie Simmons, 24, and Stacey Lopez, 18, are accused of robbing Peach Orchard Drugs around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The male suspect walked into the pharmacy dressed in dark clothing and carrying a dark bag. He approached the pharmacy counter, displayed a handgun and demanded prescription drugs, sheriff’s Sgt. Caleb Lee said.

He then walked to a cabinet himself and took an unknown amount of narcotics before running outside to an SUV, driven by the young woman.

Richmond County investigators made quick arrests in the case, capturing the pair and jailing them for armed robbery and weapon possession. Authorities say the pair lived together near the pharmacy, just two miles away on the 2600 block of Milledgeville Road. But they are now taking up residence at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
