Armed robbery reported at Central Avenue store

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store near the Augusta University and Paine College campuses.

At 9:37 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the report of a robbery at 1502 Central Avenue at the intersection of 15th Street, according to a news release.

Deputies were advised that a Black male wearing a dark hoodie, gray mask and gloves entered the store.

He displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the register and cigarettes, then fled on foot toward Druid Avenue.
