Around the Biz Block: Businesses underway in Columbia County

Augusta ENT is closer to establishing its Grovetown location. The Columbia County Planning Commission voted to approve the architectural review submitted the ear, nose and throat medical practice during its meeting on Thursday.

The Board of Commissioners approved rezoning of an undeveloped 2.83-acre parcel off Gateway Boulevard from R-1 single family residential to P-1 professional back in February. The plans submitted were for an approximately 12,400-square foot medical clinic.

The county approved the civil engineering plans in October. The building would be Augusta ENT’s fourth location in the CSRA and its second in Columbia County.

Two proposed massage parlors were also recommended for approval in the same meeting. The Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve Heaven Still’s massage operating license for business Eleven Eleven Wellness Studio, as well as  N & P Group LLC’s petition for the same for its business Total Thai Wellness. Both proposed businesses applied for operation at  108 N. Belair Rd., Ste. 7A.

Kimberly Hedrick received approval from planning for her conditional use request for a property at 472 Flowing Wells Rd., Unit K-3B. The parcel is zoned General Commercial and Light Industrial, but there Hedrick plans to open a gym, Aerial Artistry.

No major development changes were indicated in the request. Hedrick aims to use some 2,500 square feet of space in one of the buildings on the northeast portion of the parcel, which as the industrial zoning. The gym is to provide group classes, offering options such as aerial and ground yoga, aerial silks, aerial pole, lyra and various dance classes.

The commissioners voted to recommend approval with conditions. Hedrick’s variant request is scheduled to go before the Board of Commissioners on Jan. 3
