Hargrove Development aims to build a subdivision on the southside of Harlem Grovetown Road, according to documents submitted to the Columbia County Planning Department.

The builder, which shares an address with Ivey Development, has submitted a rezoning request to change some 102 acres off Harlem Grovetown, mostly within the Grovetown city limits, from agricultural residential to single-family residential.

The developer also submitted a concept plan to be reviewed by the planning staff separately. The proposed neighborhood, named “Marshall Mills,” includes about 73 single family lots, designed to use water and sewer from the City of Grovetown.

The Planning Commission is scheduled to vote on the request and the concept plans in a public hearing in its Thursday, Sept. 15 meeting.

A Memorandum of Understanding between the county and the Board of Regents of Regents of the University System of Georgia is an item on the agenda for Columbia County’s Proposed Management and Internal Services Committee.

A Memorandum of Understanding is a formal document between parties outlining common intentions and line of actions, and usually indicating an imminent legal agreement.

This agreement would enable Columbia County to work with the Cyber Center on mutually beneficial cybersecurity research efforts, to “promote joint research in cybersecurity to forge a cooperative relationship” between the Cyber Center, AU and the county. It would be of no cost to the county, according to the Columbia County’s IT staff.

The Proposed Management and Internal Services Committee, chaired by Commissioner Connie Melear, is scheduled to vote on the memorandum when it meets on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 8:30 a.m.
