Amanda Price Moore has been arrested for reckless conduct for an incident involving a firearm at Grovetown Elementary School Oct. 21.

According to a news release from the Grovetown Department of Public Safety, after the firearm was recovered, an “ATF trace” of the weapon was conducted through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms using the serial number.

ATF officials contacted Chief Jamey Kitchens with the name and address of Moore, who lives at the 300 block of Ford Avenue in Grovetown.

“Officers of the Grovetown Department of Public Safety were able to make contact with Ms. Moore, via telephone, at which time she was advised of the circumstances surrounding the firearm being recovered. Ms. Moore expressed shock and stated that she routinely exercises at night with her dogs on the walking track of the playground, and that she carries her firearm with her for protection. Ms. Moore stated that she had placed her firearm in a carry bag last night when she went to exercise.

“Ms. Moore initially agreed to meet with an Investigator at the Grovetown Department of Public Safety and provide a formal statement. However, a short while later she stated that she was enroute to the Columbia County Detention Center and that the Investigator could meet with her there. Upon the Investigator meeting with Ms. Moore at the Detention Center, she stated that she did not wish to provide any further statements in the matter,” the news release said.
