Brittney Brown

Date: May 29, 2025

A former employee of the Richmond County Marshal’s Office has been arrested following a joint investigation into allegations of misconduct, including theft and falsifying official documentation.

Brittney Brown, who previously held the rank of sergeant, was terminated from her position on May 21 after an internal investigation revealed violations of departmental policies. The Marshal’s Office promptly referred the matter to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) due to the potential criminal implications.

According to authorities, CID investigators conducted a comprehensive inquiry and secured arrest warrants for Brown on two felony charges: theft by taking and violation of oath of office. The allegations reportedly stem from incidents involving stolen time and forged documents related to military leave, as confirmed by Chief Deputy Bill Probus.

Upon learning of the active warrants, Brown voluntarily surrendered to investigators and was arrested without incident. She was booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
