Arrest made in transgender slaying

Keshia Chantal Geter was killed in an Augusta hotel.

An arrest has been made in the July 20 shooting death of Keshia Chanel Geter, a transgender person, who was found at the Knights Inn on Boy Scout Road.

Jacquarie Allen, 22, of Augusta was arrested for the murder, according to an email from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

The coroner pronounced a male dead at the hotel, giving the victim’s name as Renqual Geter. Geter had undergone some surgery to transition genders, according to earlier reports.

Allen is being charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime. Additional charges on Allen may be forthcoming, the email said.

No further information will be released due to the ongoing investigation. The booking photo is unavailable at this time, the email said.
