Arrest warrant issued for Cortez Dayon Walker in altercation following Augusta Commission meeting

Date: May 04, 2022

The Richmond County Marshal’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for Cortez Dayon Walker over an altercation that occurred May 3 in the hallway outside of commission chambers at the Municipal Building.

The incident occurred shortly after the commission meeting adjourned, according a statement Chief Scott Peebles of the Marshal’s office. The altercation was between Walker and Mayor Pro-Tem Bobby Williams. Walker had previously claimed it was Williams who pushed him and called him a “thug.”

However, after reviewing camera footage of the encounter, officials determined that it was Walker that threw a punch at the Mayor Pro-Tem. Walker will be charged with Misdemeanor Simple Battery.
