Two people were arrested in the June assault of an 80-year-old woman at Augusta Mall.
On Thursday, Richmond County Investigators arrested Brian Arnez Boggan, 46, and Verneka Patrice Ware, 48, both of Augusta, in connection with the robbery and assault that occurred in the parking lot of The Augusta Mall on June 21, according to an email from Sgt. William McCarty with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Both Boggan and Ware have been committed to The Charles B. Webster Detention Center and are charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, exploitation of elderly or disabled person, possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The woman was in the mall parking lot near Macy’s when the investigators were called on the scene in June.
She told deputies that she was “robbed by an African-American male who pointed a gun at her and said
he would shoot her,” according to the incident report. She then stated that the suspect stole “her red bag with her black cell phone and wallet inside of it.”
The woman fought back and “that is when the suspect struck her in the head with the gun one time.”
