In recent days we observed the opening of the Olympics in Paris, France. During the opening ceremonies the world was treated to one of the worst examples of perversion I have ever seen. It is a wonder that God doesn’t just obliterate those responsible from the face of the earth. I couldn’t believe it but there it was; a parody of the Lord’s Supper that was insulting to every Christian no matter where they live on the earth or their status in life. As an additional insult to Christians and the Word of God, Mr. Jolly used people as “actors” who are drag queens and such. They were throwing homosexuality and perverted living in the faces of God’s people who know beyond question what He says about such people. They are taking part in a lifestyle that is an abomination to God. Judgment is coming for them just as judgment came on Sodom and Gomorrah which can’t even be found today. Those cities were blown away by God’s judgment on exactly what those in this Lord’s Supper depiction aspouse.
Anyone, and I mean anyone with a modicum of intelligence or respect for Jesus Christ would have known better than to depict what they did. You have heard about it by now I am sure, but an idiot by the name of Thomas Jolly directed this perversion of a most holy event in the life of Christ. Mr. Jolly is a theater and opera director who thinks far more of himself than his thoughts are worth.
I am sick and tired of people doing such things to our Christian faith. I guarantee you Mr. Jolly would not do such a thing concerning the Muslim faith. He would not last long if he did. But, we Christians are a people of grace and mercy so I guess he figures that we are fair game. We won’t kill him or put out a contract on him. We grieve over and are highly offended by what he did concerning the Last Supper however he knows that we might object but we will do him no harm as the Muslims would. Why, we might even condemn him but he doesn’t care. This person who considers himself an “artist” is no more than a purveyor of perversion! He has no real talent. Satan is using him and creating such things as this perverted scene. This non-artist is allowing satan to come out through his “art.” God certainly did not inspire him to treat The Last Supper in such a way.
When “artists” do something which is “edgy” and condemned by many people, they are suddenly running and hiding behind the term “art” to give an excuse for their actions. I don’t care what they say, such things as the Lord’s Supper should never be used for them to express their precious “artsy” abilities. They need to look again. This is not art. It is satanic junk. These low life people considering themselves artists suddenly find themselves embroiled in a situation of their own making. Then, when the water they tested seems too hot for them, they try to insult the intelligence of the public by telling them that they meant no harm. Sorry, it won’t do! You cannot wipe away the consequences of your actions by running behind your supposed protective barrier of “art.”
So, what is art? It’s hard to encapsulate in a written expression but some examples will help people understand. The statue of Moses holding the Ten Commandments which was carved by Michelangelo is Art with a capital letter. As I stood before it one day, I found it to be so real that one would expect it to move at any moment. That’s Art with a capital letter. The statue of David, world famous for its perfection is Art with a capital letter. The ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, the astounding work depicting the creation of man by Michelangelo is Art with a capital letter. If a person goes to Florence, Italy they will find Art with a capital letter. The Mona Lisa by Leonard da Vinci is Art with a capital letter. The Last Judgment again a massive example of art by Michelangelo is capital letter Art. Many great artists over the centuries have identified art for us. We know it when we see it.
There are many famous artists such as Vincent van Gogh with his Starry, Starry Night which is a world famous example of art. And, there are many other wonderful artists of the past and many in the present who know and understand what art really looks like. Those in the past would have known and those in the present know that what Mr. Jolly did at the Olympics is not art but a perversion of it. I watched him squirm on television as he tried to make us “little people” understand that what he did was art. Why we should just overlook it. He didn’t mean to offend Christians. Little does he understand that not only are we offended but he offended God with his blasphemy of such a holy moment. He also offended the name of a great artist: Leonardo da Vinci who painted that masterpiece depicting The Last Supper. This “artist” needs to be taken behind the woodshed, as my grandaddy would say, and taught some “art” lessons he would understand. He would leave there with a different perspective on the subject. Has the reader figured out yet that I am furious at Mr. Jolly. I would tell him that God’s Judgment is coming!
I will be praying for Mr. Thomas Jolly but that doesn’t mean I’m not furious with him. I encourage all Christians to pray that his eyes will be opened, that he will be saved and that he will live for the Lord. That’s a big order for Mr. Jolly, but God knows how to do the impossible, in fact that’s what he deals in….the impossible. We should pray for all those who took part in this perversion; even the big fat woman who depicted Jesus in this piece of “art.” Sorry Mr. Thomas Jolly, you can’t run behind your protective claim of “art” on this one. You may fool some humans, but you will never fool God. Someone has already quoted a very good passage of scripture which is very applicable in this situation. Galatians 6:6-7 states it wonderfully well when the Apostle Paul wrote: “Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
