After two years of COVID-imposed restrictions, Arts in the Heart of Augusta is preparing for an even larger event come September.
The 2020 festival was canceled and last year’s was scaled back.
This year, the arts council will finally have a chance to celebrate the 40th festival.
At last week’s Augusta Commission meeting, the council requested an additional $20,000 funding for security as it expands to the 600 block of Broad, where the family stage and children’s activities will be presented, according to Brenda Durant, the arts council’s executive director.
The request was part of the commission’s consent agenda and passed with no problems.
