26 of 40 passing for 287 yards and 2 TDs

(Pangle topped 4,000 career passing yards in just his 16th varsity start)

Rushing

Xzavier Green (RB / Westside)

Rushed for 206 yards and 4 touchdowns on 23 carries as Westside blanked Glenn Hills 39-0

Jontavious Curry (RB / Thomson)

The explosive Curry did not have a big night rushing but caught 2 passes for 91 yards and a TD and also ran back a kickoff 81 yards for another score. Through two games with Thomson, Curry has 398 yards on just 16 touches.

Jamarquez Tyson (RB / Wash-Wilkes)

Tyson had 4 TD Runs and finished with 104 yards on just 8 carries as Wash-Wilkes topped Hancock-Central 51-0.

Zack Blackwell (RB / Augusta Christian)

Another week, another noteworthy performance by Blackwell. He led Augusta Christian to victory with 20 carries for 132 yards and 4 TDS of offense and had 6 tackles, 3 Tackles for loss, 1 Sack, 1 Forced Fumble and 1 Fumble Recovery.

Eldrick Williams (RB / Burke Co.)

Williams rushed for 165 yards and found the End Zone three times on just 8 carries in BC’s 41-8 win over Cross Creek.

Receiving

Malik Leverett (WR / Greenbrier)

Caught 14 Passes for 158 Yards & 2 TDS. Also had a TD Rushing an another Passing.

(2nd Consecutive Game in which Leverett has caught, thrown and ran for touchdowns)

Defense

Ivan Arroyo (DL / Burke Co.)

Arroyo bullied his way to 7 tackles and 3 forced fumbles for the Bears s Burke Co. rolled past Cross Creek.

Kindararius Green (LB / Thomson)

Green had 8 tackles, 3 Tackles for Loss, 2 Sacks and also managed to rush for a pair of TDs on Offense.

The Author

Sports Columnist - Ashley, or “A.B.” as he is known, was born and raised in the Augusta Area, graduating from Lakeside High School in 1989. Ten years later, he was invited back to give the Commencement Address at the School’s Graduation Ceremony. He attended Columbus State University on a basketball scholarship. Following his college career, he moved back to Augusta and began a career as a radio talk show host that lasted for 21 years.
